- 2023-05-30: It is now possible to enter animals that play roles in movies. For this purpose, there is another “gender” “animal” when entering the person data. If there is no picture, a paw symbol is displayed instead.
- 2022-04-04: There are short URLs for movies and persons now: “omdb.org/m185” for example leads to the movie “A Clockwork Orange”, whose complete URL would be “https://www.omdb.org/en/us/movie/185-a-clockwork-orange”. By entering “omdb.org/p240” you get to the article about Stanley Kubrick.
- 2022-02-22: Now there is also the ignorelist available, which is the opposite of the watchlist. Movies on the ignorelist are displayed crossed out and with fainter font. So you can see at one glance which movies you are not interested in. Also, those movies can be hidden by filters in movie lists.
- 2022-01-17: In cooperation with JustWatch.com, the display of streaming offers has been significantly expanded. That is why omdb now has country-specific pages so that visitors only get displayed streams for their country. Logged in users can define in their settings which providers they want to have displayed. Furthermore you can now filter movie lists by movies on your own watchlist or movies available as streams.

- 2020-10-08: omdb now supports batch editing and creation for data that is separated by line breaks. Episodes can be created and edited in one go on the season page at the tab “Parts” and “edit”. - 2017-04-20: Changes regarding https: The creation of new accounts is now done per default with the secure https protocol. On login a link to the https version is displayed (if omdb has not already been requested via https://www.omdb.org). If a movie page is requested via https, now a link to the IMDb site is displayed instead of the rating, since IMDb does not support https and therefore the rating cannot be displayed.
- 2017-04-03: More data from Wikidata is added to omdb articles. When the Wikidata id is present under “Weblinks”, now also parts of the crew and for persons the dates of birth and death are added.
- 2017-03-30: If an episode does not has an own image, now the image of the season is displayed on its page. If this is missing too, the image of the series will be shown.
- 2017-03-19: Now also the mobile version of omdb has social media buttons and especially a button to embed movies into Whatsapp messages.
- 2016-11-26: When the exact date of birth, death or the release date of movies is unknown, you can now enter only the year or the year and month.
