Tim Taylor (Tim Allen) is the host of a home crafts show. He's always clowning around, which sometimes gets on the nerves of his wife Jill (Patricia Richardson) and his three sons Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Marc (Taran Noah Smith). When problems arise, the Taylors, especially Tim, often turn to the quirky but wise neighbor Wilson.
